HERO OF THE DAY

This is a nice look ......very nice. Please have a look at the dress, the fabric is precious, the print, which is always more risky to go for, is beautiful. I can't explain why I love the belt, the shawl, the black shoulders .... I don’t know exactly what's going on there but nice....very nice.
She has fantastic natural hair and she is so right to keep them that way even to such an elegant event: the Monte Carlo Rose Ball (Moroccan theme this year).
Ps: Love the diadem in her hair... so original.... Need to find one for my wedding! Lou
This is a real hero! I love the dress, shape and print, love the belt and adore the diadem! I am not sure about the shawl, I don't like shawls in general. she's confident and fun, we like you Tatiana! ciao julsx

Sunday Brunch: The Albion Cafe'

It wouldn't be Monday if we weren't speaking about food..! Yesterday I went to the Albion for brunch: a delicious English cafe' on the ground floor of the Boundary Hotel. There was a bit of a queue to do but it was all worth it. Nice relaxed atmosphere, fantastic bread and croissants, really everything you want for a lazy Sunday brunch. xx Juls

HERO OF THE DAY

Chloe Sevigny always looks like a hero. Daring and cool she sports every trend with an edgy charm. Here she's doing the Eighties, but somehow it doesn't look so.... Perfect combination of basics. I love you. xxJuls

HERO OF THE DAY

I have to say, she's doing good. Victoria Beckham sports one of my favourite looks: combat pants, T-shirt and tailored jacket + nudish pumps. I will definitely do this myself, I think it's the real cool spring look! and I already own a pair of Aviators....... xxJuls
Very cool, love the mix elegant blazer and military trousers, jersey T-shirt but....I would have picked some architectural heels though. Those ones are a bit to elegant for this look I think.
Btw, Posh is always pictured in an airport, I am going to call her “Captain Posh” from now on. Lou

FASHION POLICE

At the London premiere of Kick-Ass (already a very intellectual movie...) celebrities gathered as a joyful bunch and competed for the Horrific Award: a pregnant blonde supermodel (no names please...) got pictured in a not-so-flattering back pose, a famous TV presenter tried to hide underneath a curtain of hair but the magnificent couple, as woodman and Red-y Boobs, got all the attention. Well deserved award. xxJuls
What else do you want me to say? Oh yes I know.... The blond supermodel picture 1, it's Claudia Schiffer! Ciao, Lou.

GO VEGETERIAN!

Last Friday I went all veg: a great dinner at Saf - great looking restaurant and bar in Curtain Road - Shoreditch. Using a variety of unique preparation techniques, most dishes are cooked below 48°C to preserve optimum nutrition and flavour. I shared a Tasting Plate, made of beetroot ravioli, vegetable maki, olives & spiced nuts, tapenade, sun dried tomato, cashew cheese with raw flax seed crackers and homemade pickles with my friend. As main course I had Lasagne, but obviously not the traditional ones, but with raw Bolognaise, sage pesto, olive relish, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and macadamia ricotta. The veg experience has never been so tasty!

HERO OF THE DAY

Buy one, Get one free! Today we have two heroes: Elie Saab and Oscar de La Renta.
Those cocktail dresses are beautiful, precious and elegant but cool. Personally, I love the Elie Saab one, love the décolleté, the sleeves, the bottom is wonderful too. For once, I don't see any faux pas, I mean the shoes are so right nude for Dakota and black with studs for Emilie, their hair-cut match their look, outfit and occasion.
10/10 Lou
Finally my eyes can rest! Beautiful young girls in beautiful outfits. Maybe Dakota went a big too elegant for her age, but the perfect fit might forgive her for this. Emilie's Oscar de la Renta is flawless and the shoes....I love those shoes! Brave! xxJuls

ALICE IN WONDERLAND - HARRODS WINDOWS

Recently I went to watch Alice in Woderland by Tim Burton and I loved it! Everything was brilliant, I loved the characters, what they do, what they say. So this morning when I alighted from the tube in front of Harrods and I saw this, I was amazed! Beautiful windows recreating some parts of the tale, with great details and fantastic atmosphere. I got inspired. By beauty and creativity. The Mad Hatter, Red & White Queens looking at me and screaming aesthetic haven! xx Juls

FASHION POLICE

Dannii Minogue... If I say ugly is that enough?
What a bad taste, the fake fur, the color, the boots etc...
If you don’t want to wear real fur, don’t wear fur at all, especially not fake! If you are pregnant you want to share your curves, fair enough, why do you need to look fat on top of that? This outfit doesn’t mean anything. It is terrible and the worst for me are the comments on dailymail.co.uk saying “I love this dress”. Really?

Room with a view

You all should go and see this place: a beautiful townhouse turned into a small boutique hotel from the eccentric David Carter, 40 Winks is also an entertaining place. They organize small gatherings and themed days, like the Vintage day or the Bedtime stories. It's obviously based in East London (where else?) and it is really the place to be.

BIANCA VS ROSIE

Alright, are you ready for the fight?First, let me introduce you the competitors: Bianca Brandolini d'Adda, a charming Italian "it" girl and Rosie Huntington Green, a gorgeous British Model. They are both on this picture wearing a Louis Vuitton sleeveless fur gilet. I LOVE FUR but I'm not sure what it is. It seems soft as shaved mink but the color and the length of the hair remind me rabbit??? Anyway, today YOU can vote for your favorite, who is wearing is best? In my opinion Rosie. And you? Lou

London's coolest boutiques

In this month's UK Vogue there's a piece about the best boutiques in Britain, so I'd like to share with you the best in London: Start in Rivington Street for the coolest side of young designers; Jeanettes in Redchurch Street, a new discovery for me, for an edgy selection of new designers and vintage; Palette in Canonbury Lane, for the chicest vintage designer pieces; My Sugarland, in St John Street, for a surreal experience.
I hope you love them!xxJuls

FASHION POLICE

2 Wonderful fashion faux-pas, there is no word to qualify Lindsay Lohan and Kylie Minogue both in Paris for the fashion week, one at Chanel, the other at YSL. Lindsay, aAe you coming back from a Harley Davidson tour and put on quickly some shoes before the show? Kylie, darling I am pretty sure you are not fat, but you do look so! And please never again the nude tights, this is so over since such a long time ago. Lou

HERO OF PARIS FASHION WEEK

Already for us normal people it would be difficult to change twice, during one afternoon. It would be quite unlikely then, if that would happen, that we change from a beautiful Chloe jumpsuit + faboulous sandals to a superb Chanel coat + to-die-for boots. Well, the until-now-unknown-to-me French actress Elisa Sednaoui just did it. Today. In Paris, during Fashion Week. I'm speechless, She's my new hero. xx Juls
Black or White.....both my captain! I couldn't say the one I prefer, the cut of the jumpsuit is stunning and I love the Louboutin shoes (for once) that Elisa is wearing. They also do exist in a nude color; they are highly recommended to people looking for nude shoes at the moment. Black version, very nice, but what I prefer in this look it’s the boots absolutely amazing. So for me, I would say white Chloe jumpsuit with black Chanel boots but not together of course! Lou

RESTAURANT ORRERY MAYFAIR

Orrery is a French restaurant on Marylebone high street on top of the Conran shop. It actually belongs to Sir Terence Conran, as well as the Bluebird, Le coq d’argent, Cantina del ponte, l’Avenue etc…
They serve an excellent new French cuisine restaurant imagined by a one Michelin-starred chef. We chose a fantastic bottle of Bourgogne for only £45. The service is hopeless but the food is great from the amuse-bouche till the coffee biscuits. Btw, if you book with toptable, you can have dinner on a Saturday night for £25/pers. A nice place for an unusual romantic dinner. Lou

OSCARS 2010 / FASHION POLICE

Have you noticed what I've noticed? I can hear you... "All horrible!" yes but what else? All strapless, yes AND all froufrou, stop the ruffles, stop the taffeta, stop the craziness... STOP
Alright guys let's do a countdown: N1 Vera Farmiga, N2 Kate Winslet, N3 Amanda Seyfried, N4 Charlize Theron, N5 Penelope Cruz, N6 Jennifer Lopez, N7 Kristen Stewart, her dress is nice to me it's just that it is not right on her. Which party was that? The Oscars, ah ok. Lou
They all are rigid and old for me. I can't even finger one out as the worst, they are all strong competitors. For young people as Amanda and Kristen it's outrageous to wear such gowns. i must cover my eyes, I can't even look at them! xJuls

THE HEROs OF THE OSCARS

This season at the Oscars it was all about shoulders: maybe we don't know, but in Hollywood if you cover your shoulders they throw you rotten fruit. Just to be safe our celebs wore strapless, strapless and strapless. Little de-route for Anna Kendrick (in pink Elie Saab) who dared little off-the-shoulders straps. But that was it. All the other girls followed the trend. Zoe Saldana went all brave in this Givenchy ruffled gown, Very beautiful. Cameron Diaz led the beaded group with a stunning Oscar de la Renta, while Sarah Jessica Parker was the epithome of glamour in a custom made Chanel Couture. What could you ask more? Positive note to Miley Cyrus that, even if she lookes twice her age, chose a gorgeous and cool Jenny Packham gown. xxJuls
No dress you would die for? Me neither but I have to say that Zoe's dress in another shade I wouldn't say no. This Givenchy gown is a wonder, look at the work stunning! I like Miley too; she really has a great body. In my opinion very few people can wear this dress, her shoulders are beautiful, her breast is perfect for the bustier, her waist I don't even want to comment, stop.
SJP looked good, let's say elegant but that's it and Cameron glamorous but déjà vu hundreds of time on a red carpet. Anna is not my favorite but cute. I am sure nowadays they are more designers than ever but not one actress managed to get THE outfit which rocks on her this time. I really do believe that too much choice kill the choice! Let's meditate on this. Lou

Let's sing the night away

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life... See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen.... This is how my Saturday night started!
Last weekend I went all singing-queen at the Birdcage pub in Columbia Road, the most fun pub ever! Karaoke is a tradition here and the coolest east-london crowd almost fights to get a spot on the stage. Either you arrive early and choose your tune, or you'll just sing-along with the lucky ones. But the best time is guardanted anyway!

BEING COOL

Now this is what I call being cool. When you wear a SUPERB cape with the most relaxed attitude, sporting layers of cashmere and denim and a cardi wrapped around your neck like a scarf (actually I use this trick all the time, especially in summer). Thank you stranger! xxJuls

HERO OF THE DAY

I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is super pretty. Elegant and young! It is Isabel Marant, I really like her job, she is a new Coco Chanel for me. The only thing I would change: the shoes!!!!!!!! I found the perfect pair for you Natalie at Balenciaga, the stingray strappy sandal in aqua.
http://www.brownsfashion.com/product/designers/index/women/balenciaga/011E52490008.htm
Lou
I don't like this. I don't think it works. The angle of the picture doesn't help, but I think there's too much going on in the upper part (i.e. shoulders are too padded and hair too curly) and not enough in the bottom part (i.e. skirt is too short and shoes not appropriate). Sorry Natalie, I generally like you but you could have done better. xxJuls

BLONDIE: the queen on vintage in Spitalfieds

Ok, ok I'm sorry if my local vintage shop is the coolest in London! Blondie Vintage is a petit tidy fresh airy boutique which offers amazing vintage pieces in great conditions! You won't be able to shop for vintage anywhere else after you visit Blondie. It is so welcoming and everything is divided carefully by colour and size with the most precious pieces hung on the wall behind the till or displayed in clear cabinets. i shouldn't share such a rare gem, but I feel generous today! xxJuls
Blondie, 114-118 Commercial Street London E1 6NF 020 7247 0050

HERO OF THE DAY

Juls: she really is beautiful. There. I said it. And this dress is faboulous! And the shoes also, and the clutch. Well practicly everything. I would have worn earrings or necklace though. to complete the look. But she looks very cool anyhow. Compliments, I salute you! xx
This girl is stunning! Her skin glows, not easy to wear a white dress in March, even in LA. I love the dress, love the cap sleeves, the shoes are beautiful and fun and sexy. Not crazy about the bow on the belt... This is finally a real Hero. Lou

PRET-A-PORTEA

Afternoon tea at the Berkeley.... Nice. But Pret-a-portea at the Berkeley... even better.
The Berkeley hotel in Knightsbridge had a great idea when they created a collection of cakes and fancies in the color of the fashion season and in the style on the world's finest designers.
"Madame, would you like some more Burberry?" I beg your Pardon????

Basically, the cake’s shape represents a Burberry Mac, a Chanel bag, a Roger Vivier shoe, a Mulberry bayswater purse etc…. £35 per person, £45 with Champagne.
Isn’t it a stylish idea?

GELATO MIO!

I haven't had the chance to try it quite yet, but I only hear praises about it! Apparently the best real Italian thing in London, offers gelato, gelato cakes, and also some other Italian favourites likes piadine and little patisserie. Oh and the coffee, of course! There's one shop in Holland Park and one in Notting Hill, and a small corner near Charing Cross.
I want to go now!!! xxJuls

HERO OF THE DAY

It isn't an easy day for heros today, nobody really stood out, but Keira lookes as cute as a button in this Miu Miu ensamble, doesn't she? Prints are big now, but it's diffuclt to find the right one. this is subtle and modern and the colors together smile. xxJuls

Very cute outfit for Keira BUT she needs to go to Gelato Mio more often. For your own sake Keira, eat a little bit more and you will be prettier in this lovely printed look. Lou

WEST END TIP - WESTBOURNE TAVERN

Am I the only one who suffers from "Sunday blues"? I know it is Tuesday today but there is no specific day to help people who share this disease with me.
Sunday, late afternoon, smells like the end of the week end, I decide to go to the Westbourne for a drink which do end up most of the time with a diner, balanced, fish and vegetables for me, rib-eye steak and French fries for my husband (you get why I keep saying boyfriend Juls? – sounds like I am 45). I am home at 8.15pm ready to wash my hair and then watch a dvd! Love it, Lou.

Beauty tip

I am not a big supporter of make-up. I think that a woman's natural beauty comes also from her flaws, that's why I don't like to cover up my face with layers of foundation / blush etc. it looks so fake to me. But recently I found this great product, by Laura Mercier, that is a teinted moisturizer: light and soft you don't know it's there but it evens the skin up. Revolutionary! After this discovery I obviously couldn't stop, so I bought a concealer for the lids, which I haven't quite understood its potential yet because I don't see any difference after the application....That I see instead with the third purchase, a beautiful powder for brows, which makes them fuller and clearer, and it's so easy to apply. I love it!

MY HERO OF THE DAY

I know that Lou disagrees, and I apology to her for this, but I think Marisa Tomei looked really cool at this Dior party. I'm really keen on smart jumpsuit lately, I've seen a few around and I would love to have the right shape for it! Nice choice, very edgy! ciao Julsxx

SURPRISE

This charming woman is Laetitia Casta. She is model but an actress first, she is also the mother of two and she is the partner of a handsome Italian actor named Stefano Accorsi.
Already on the paper I “hate her” (i.e. I would love to be her). But don’t stop me now… look at those pictures taken during the Cesars, the French academy awards which took place last Saturday in Paris. Laetitia chose this light and transparent outfit to give a prize… in front of everybody of course and and and she was so so so comfortable. I was watching the screen and I was shy for her but not at all Laetitia was so confident with her body. UNBELIEVABLE. Lou
